Retro Shooting is exactly what it sounds like it is – a retro shooting game. This game has the same feel of classic arcade games, but you don’t have to put in a quarter or even go to an arcade to enjoy it.

Features include:

  • Shoot down missiles
  • Enhance your plane
  • Earn medals and stars
  • Level up

When players first open the app, they’re taken through a tutorial. The tutorial does a good job of laying out the game and its various features. Once players go through the tutorial, they can visit the enhancements screen. There they can customize their experience, changing the main weapon ATK, the missile ATK, the magnetic field power, and skill cooldown time. Users need coins for many of the enhancements which they can earn by playing the game.

The game itself is fairly easy to play. Through the tutorial, players will learn how to use boosts and other features by holding down two fingers during game play. It can take a few minutes to get the hang of these special features, but after some practice, they’ll come more naturally.

This game is not being rated for education.

Like many arcade games, Retro Shooting is somewhat addicting. Players will enjoy guiding the plane around the screen and trying to take out the missiles as they approach. The game rewards players with medals and coins for their achievements. There are multiple levels of play, so players are motivated to keep trying to advance.

The app is free to download and offers a quality arcade-style shooting game. If kids enjoy retro arcade games, they’ll enjoy this app. However, parents should be sure to set up password protection so kids don’t try to purchase enhancements from the App Store.

Child Friendliness

Most of the app is child-friendly. In a few instances, such as on the enhancements screen, ads appear at the bottom of the screen. Users can also make in-app purchases to get specialized enhancements.
