Little Doggy Run gives kids the chance to let their dog run around town. As the dog runs, kids must make him jump, crouch down, or move to the left and right to avoid obstacles. They also have to collect different colored bones. The more bones they collect and the more obstacles they avoid, the more points they earn.

Features include:

  • Race different dogs
  • Avoid obstacles
  • Collect bones
  • Purchase items for your dog

When kids first open the app, they’re prompted to give their dog a name. The app warns them that they will not be able to change the name, so they should choose one that sticks. The opening of the app also lays out the general structure of the app: go around the world, collect bones, get items. As kids run with their dog, they’ll find that the app responds pretty well. However, it is not the best at quick movements, so kids should make sure they’re prepared to jump, move over, or crouch down. In the settings section, kids can adjust the sound and extra skill level. There are also links to the privacy policy and a few typos.

This app is not being rated for education.

Little Doggy Run uses two main strategies to entertain kids. First, they can race the dog around the world and earn points. Second, they can use those points to buy items. The items include things like different leashes and even different types of dogs. Once kids get the hang of the game, they’ll have fun seeing how far they can get and how many bones they can collect to help them buy new items.

As a free game, this app has the potential to be fun for kids. Unfortunately, its value is hampered a bit by the large number of ads kids are asked to watch. Kids will also want to buy more coins, but they don’t add a lot of value to the app.

Child Friendliness

When kids are racing, if they hit an obstacle, they’re asked if they want to watch a video to continue. The videos contain third party ads. Kids can also watch videos to earn additional items. In addition to the ads, kids can also purchase additional coin packages through a series of in-app purchase. Access to these purchases is not protected.
