Overview

If your kids like the book The Gruffalo, they’ll enjoy Gruffalo: Puzzles. In this app, kids play six different puzzle games. Each game features some of their favorite Gruffalo characters.

Features include:

  • Six puzzle games
  • Multiple levels of difficulty
  • Fun sounds
  • Favorite characters

Quality

When kids first open the app, they see a picture of the Gruffalo. Then a screen with six icons appears. Each icon describes a different game and the game’s title is right next to it. Games are easy to access and play. Helpful descriptions get kids started. Parents will find more info about the app in the protected parent area.

Education

This app doesn’t have an incredibly educational feel. After all, it’s designed more to engage kids with characters from a popular story. However, many of the games do connect with early learning skills. For example, kids must match pairs, make their way through a maze, and choose the odd one out in a group of three. These simple activities help kids learn while interacting with characters from the book.

Entertainment

Kids will find six different games in the app. They can play Owl’s Odd One Out, Mouse Match, Gruffalo Marbles, Paint with Fox, Snake Maze, and Forest Race. Each game is simple to play and most come with multiple levels of difficulty, so they will continue to engage kids.

Value

The app is priced similarly to most animated ebooks. With this one, however, kids just get the games, not the story. For the price, kids get access to six different games featuring their favorite characters.

Child Friendliness

In the protected parent area, parents can access additional Gruffalo resources, such as the ability to download the video version of the story. On the main screen, kids will see an icon for another app. Kids can tap on the icon to read more about the app, but access to the App Store is protected by a parental block.
