Put on your boots and head on down to the farm. Toca Life: Farm gives kids a chance to experience what life is like on the farm. From the inside of the barn and farmhouse to running to farmer’s market, kids can experience nearly every aspect of farm life. Like the other apps in the Toca Life series, kids have free range to explore the app, allowing them to experience the farm on their own terms.
Interact with multiple characters
Play in different farm-themed settings
Record audio and video of characters
Make music and other sound effects
When kids first open the app, they’re provided with a layout of the farm. From there, kids can determine whether they want to visit the farm house, the barn, or the farmer’s market or head out to the field. No matter which area kids choose, they’ll find that they can navigate through the app’s different activities easily. Kids familiar with other Toca Life apps will be familiar with how to interact with the characters and objects in the game, but those new to the series may need to spend a bit of time figuring out how the different elements of the app work. Thankfully, it’s all fairly intuitive and they’ll figure it out as they play.
There are not any direct educational lessons and activities contained within the app. However, the app does help improve kids’ social-emotional development by giving them a chance to interact with characters in the world. Kids will also learn a bit about farm life, learning what types of crops are grown and how a farm store operates.
Kids have total control as they move around the app. If they want to play guitar in the field or drop apples all over the floor of the farmer’s market, they can do it. There are so many objects kids can use and characters they can interact with. They can plant a garden, pick apples, and run a store. They can also play music in the house, splash around in the bathroom, and move around animal poop in the barn. It may not sound too exciting to an adult, but to kids, it’s a lot of fun.
The app is priced the same as other Toca apps. Not only is it a high-quality app, but there are a large variety of activities for kids to enjoy. For kids who like farms (or just like Toca Life apps), it’s worth a download.
In this app, kids have free reign, but they get free reign within the safety of a controlled community. All of the content is child-friendly and appeals to a child’s sense of humor. The app requests access to the microphone and photos so kids can record videos of their characters’ actions in the app. On the app’s main screen, there is a protected parent area and icons for additional apps occasionally appear in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
