Discover the United States with Kids U.S. Atlas from Planet Factory. In this fun, interactive app, kids can explore all aspects of the United States, from the states themselves to the animals, national parks, monuments, and geographic features found within them. While learning about the states, kids get to test their knowledge with quizzes, puzzles, and other exciting activities while parents can track their progress on the parental dashboard.

Features include:

  • Quiz and puzzle games
  • Multiple categories
  • Progress tracking
  • English and Spanish

The main screen of the app displays a map of the United States with icons noting the different features. Along the bottom of the screen is a key representing the different categories: national monuments, mountains & deserts, national parks, the fifty states, lakes, rivers, and animals. At the top of the screen icons representing the different puzzles and games available for a particular category. Small icons also highlight the parent info area, more apps, new apps, and the language selector. The app is available in English and Spanish.

Once kids start interacting with a category, they will find informational paragraphs with clear audio narration and video clips to support the content they contain. Watching the videos requires an internet connection, but otherwise the app runs smoothly and kids can easily find their way through the games.

Kids of different ages can explore the content of this app and feel like they are learning a lot. Every paragraph comes with audio narration, so even early readers can understand what is going on. Graphics and videos also support the learning and help the app appeal to multiple learning styles. Kids can also play a variety of games related to the content, including grouping items, answering quiz questions, and solving jigsaw puzzles. Parents can monitor kids’ performance using the parental dashboard and encourage them to focus on particular areas.

The way the app is organized allows kids to explore and discover at their own pace. They’ll enjoy tapping on the various icons to discover what hides behind them. They’ll also have a lot of fun playing the games and activities contained within the app. There are tons of options for kids to keep them entertained, especially if parents opt to purchase all of the categories.

While the app is free to download, only the animals category comes with it. Parents can unlock additional categories individually or as a bundle. Individually, the categories are fairly expensive and not really worth the price, but the bundle is a decent value for the content they get.

Child Friendliness

The app is fairly easy for kids to navigate and provides a safe place for them to learn about the United States. However, it does offer in-app purchases and contains a few icons advertising “more apps” and new apps which can distract kids. Thankfully, they’re protected.

  • Protected parent area (can contain external links & social media)
  • NO external links
  • NO social media
  • NO 3rd party ads
  • YES “more apps” (protected, but visible)
