Device: iPad / HD app
One of the most important things children learn in preschool and kindergarten is number and letter recognition. It’s a simple skill that needs to be mastered early and this fun, game style app helps kids do exactly that.
What’s great about this app is it’s simplicity; there are no distractions and enough in the app to keep kids interested – plus there is a sticker reward once several levels have been completed.
Another nice thing about this app is that the parental settings are not easily accessed by the child using the iPad. You need to press and hold this button for 3 seconds, but it felt more like 10. Once on the settings page, you can personalize with the child’s name, add your email to receive certificates for your child via the app, activate hard mode (numbers up to 20), save sticker page to album, sound preferences and get more information about the company.
As this is an iPad app the screen size could be better used – the fish, numbers, etc are a bit too small and the screen looked crowded. The design needs a little something extra to make it really appealing to kids. I would also like to see directions or hints used so that kids know that they have to tap and turn the green fish to see the letter or number they need to match. My 5 year old son is the perfect age for this app, and he seemed to make the same mistake several times, which was to just drag the fish without turning it first, this just didn’t seem intuitive.
Bottom-line: while the app doesn’t push any new early learning boundaries on the iPad it does do the basics well and, surprisingly, not a lot of apps do that.Artikel wurde nicht gefunden
