This ebook is one of the most delightful books for young kids available on the iPhone / iPad / iPod as an app. One Rainy Day is a cute little story about a duck who loves the rain. The book is simple and gentle – and I would recommend it for babies old enough to engage in any book – digital or not.

Drawing Pad is by far one of the best drawing apps for kids. It’s simple to use, but not too childish in the design. As a designer, I just love the layout of the app – and if it had a bit more functionality (brush size, color picker, layers etc) would use it myself.

Read Me Stories by 8interactive is a great idea, however this idea gets lost in translation. Firstly, the app is quite slow and both parent and child get impatient waiting for it to load. Once loaded, you have 2 books that you can read but you can see books that are coming soon – inevitably the child wants to read one of the books that is not currently available, and this is where the frustration begins.

The iWriteWords iPhone / iPad app helps kids learn and write the alphabet, numbers and words. The lite version is definitely worth checking out first – and may even be fine for your needs. Since I used it so much, I decided to opt for the paid version which is currently $2.99.

In additional to the beautifully illustrated ebook for the iPad, you also have the option of having the ebook read to you in either English, Chinese, or in your own recorded voice. Most of the charm from this iPad app is the stories themseles, although there is also a spot the difference game in the iPad app too.

The Wheels on the Bus app is a wonderful app for even the youngest iPhone loving kids. Part interactive book and part music app, you can choose between several languages or musical instruments. You can even have fun recording your own version of this popular song.

I had thought that I was over the whole potty training phase, unfortunately a little potty training regression has changed that. Luckily this means I have decided to review some potty training apps. Like most apps I review I started off by checking out potty training apps in the App Store. Obviously, there are many …

My 4 year old still loves this app and has been playing with it for about a year. The nice thing about this app is that the instructions are read aloud, so kids can work on this independently.

This iphone app goes beyond the simple “learn to tell time” app. I downloaded this app when my 2nd grader was learning to tell time in a more advanced way. Time before, time after, elapsed time, as well as telling time to the minute.
