Dr Seuss eBook reading apps for kids

I love Dr Seuss books – both as a kid and as a parent. The ridiculous rhymes are designed to build childrens’ vocabulary through quirky repetition.

Oceanhouse Media has designed and developed many Dr Seuss books into fabulous little reading apps. These ebook / reading apps capture the spirit of the Dr Seuss books with great clear graphics and both “read to me” and “read to myself” functionality. What I love most about these Dr Seuss app is that they are UNIVERSAL apps meaning I can have it on my iPhone or my iPad and it works well on both.

While the apps are great – and I highly recommend getting a couple of books – they are arguably a little too simple. Unlike some other standout ebook apps like Miss Spider’s Bedtime Story, there are no coloring pages or games included. Personally, I would like to see a list of words learned in the book and the ability to record your own voice. In addition, since there are over 10 books in the Dr Seuss ebook series, how about a Dr Seuss Bookshelf app?

Bottomline: Definitely worth the price for a true-to-the-original UNIVERSAL iPad / iPhone / iPod app
