  • English, Spanish, or Italian text
  • Puzzle to solve

Quality

In general, Let’s Go Lex is a quality app. The narration does feel like it could be a bit better and sometimes the animations are slow. However, everything generally moves well and the app is full of quality features, such as animated illustrations and highlighted text. A crab occasionally appears to offer help. The app menu offers access to page-by-page navigation, sound control, and the ability to select a language. Kids can listen to or read the story in English, Spanish, or Italian.

Education

One of the best features of the story is the highlighted narration. This feature will help kids begin to develop word-to-sound recognition and improve their reading skills. The text is a bit small, but it does not really hurt the story. As kids read, they’ll find the story to be engaging and will enjoy the animated illustrations as well.

Entertainment

In addition to a quality text, the app offers animated illustrations. Kids can typically engage the illustrations by tapping on the flies. Along with a fun story, the app also offers a puzzle for kids to put together at the end.

Value

This app is priced lower than many narrated ebooks. While it lacks some of the interactivity found in higher-priced ebooks, it does offer quality narration and highlighted text.

Child Friendliness

On the first page of the app, kids will see the developer’s website address and a Facebook icon. However, these objects are not active links. All of the content within the story is appropriate for kids.
