New & Noteworthy – July 5, 2016: Hot New Apps for the Summer

Welcome to another New & Noteworthy, where we bring you all the cool new apps available for your kids. This week  we’ve found some great new apps that will keep your kids entertained during these dog days of summer. Your child will be able to go on vacation, learn a new language, brush up on their reading skills, and explore their creativity while they keep cool from the summer heat.

Toca Life: Vacation

If you are a fan of Toca Boca apps, you are in luck! Toca Life: Vacation is a great app that lets your child experience a vacation from your living room (or car, or office, or waiting room…). They will have the ability to interact with four locations: airport, hotel, beach, and sightseeing. They have access to 34  characters to use in their stories. They can even create videos and record their own voice. No objectives or scores allow your child to play however they want.

Chinese Skill

Celebrate Kung Fu Panda 3 on video by learning Chinese. Chinese Skill- Learn Mandrin Chinese Language for Free is a great way to get introduced to Mandrin Chinese. While its reputation does proceed itself as a difficult language, Chinese Skill breaks it down with an easy to digest format so that you can start to master this language in no time. With features such as mini-games, testing, native pronunciation, and more, this app will help you master a new language to impress your friends. Maybe Kung Fu will be next on the list!

Read

Read- Kids learn to read and write in 20 easy lessons is an app for preschoolers and elementary students to learn to read. Using both the phonics method and the whole language method, your child will quickly learn to recognize letters and string them together to make words and then sentences. A kid-friendly interface and colorful tracking charts, learning reading this summer will be a fun activity instead of being stressful. There are also parent tips to help you get the most out of the app to help your child be a successful reader.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

The Very Hungry Caterpillar- Creative Play brings the beloved book to life and allows your child to experiment with different colors and textures that make Eric Carle’s books so unique. Many of your child’s favorite characters can be used as they give them different colors or they can make their own. This app will allow your child to explore their creativity and try new things as they create beautiful artwork for everyone to enjoy.
