Free App Friday – March 25, 2016: Let’s Practice Math

Welcome to another Free App Friday! This week we’ve found some great free apps that will teach your child different math skills, some that often get overlooked. We have found apps that teach time, introduce measuring, and evaluate fractions. We also have apps that will go over basic math skills that will reinforce a strong foundation.

Math Dots (Pirates)

Forget flashcards! Math Dots is a fun way to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts. Right answers earn you the next dot in the puzzle. When you complete the puzzles, you are rewarded with pirate artwork. There are 3 difficulty levels and you can combine operations to make more complex equations.

Wake the Rooster by Telling Time

Are your kids constantly asking you what time it is? Use Wake the Rooster to help them learn to tell time. In this app, they set the clock to wake the rooster. Using an analog clock, they will set the correct time and be rewarded with fun animations when they are right. This game is adaptive and will become more challenging as they learn.

Measure Length

Give your child an introduction to measurement with this app. They will learn to measure by measuring seven different animals. You can also pick the unit used for measurement. Fifteen correct measurements will end the game. The app also adjusts difficulty based on the time it takes your child to answer the questions. Interesting graphics and fun background music make this app a great experience.

Rounding Whole Numbers

Rounding Whole Numbers is an app designed to help kids improve their rounding skills.

Oh No Fractions!

Oh No Fractions! is a unique app that will help your child master fractions and the different operations that are required. This app allows you to compare, add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions.  This app is a great way for kids to learn to evaluate fractions in a stress-free way.
