A Birthday For Frances by Russell Hoban is a beloved children’s classic about a young badger who is jealous that it’s her little sister Gloria’s birthday. Frances wishes it was her birthday instead, and considers keeping the birthday candy she bought her little sis for herself. Love and generosity eventually win over in this charming tale.

Birthday Bugs by David A. Carter is a delightful pop-up book all about bugs and surprises. It’s a fantastic hands-on book for younglings, as it features a wearable birthday hat as well as candles that may be added to the pop-up “cake.”
