Fish Bowl Gelatin

Create an awesome (and edible) summer birthday party food using gelatin (duh), blue food coloring, flat lemon-lime soda, and gummy fish. Kids will delight in this super-cool party treat!

Slip-N-Slide Fun

Ah, the Slip-N-Slide. It’s a summer staple for a reason: it’s ridiculously fun. Turn a portion of your backyard into a Slip-N-Slide paradise by featuring three or more varieties of the classic “toy.” Put as many down as you have room for, such as one that features a “pool” at the end, as well as the timeless yellow version. Kids will have a grand, grand time! You may also go a step further and feature baby pools for “relaxing.”

Giant Painting Boards

Kids get to let their inner artists come out with giant painting boards! Set up as many as you want along your backyard, and provide a plethora of paint colors. You might be surprised at the masterpieces that result!

Water Balloon Piñata

A water balloon piñata is arguably less crazy and chaotic than a water balloon fight, and offers a new take on the party game.

Sponge Water Bombs

Sponge water bombs are a fun summer birthday party activity, and take little effort to make. Simply cut up a bunch of kitchen sponges in various colors into lengthwise pieces, then stack two layers of four sponges. Use fishing line to bind the pieces together, and voila: you have yourself nifty, colorful water bombs. Throw them in a baby pool so they soak up as much water as possible, and allow the kids to have at each other.

Milk and Cookie “Cocktails”

This idea is perfect for tween birthdays. Give the kids refreshing “cocktails” made of milk and cookies! Add honey or agave nectar around the rims of traditional cocktail glasses, and use it as “glue” for candy sprinkles. Once the sprinkles are attached, fill each glass with milk. Place lollipop sticks in each cookie before you bake and put them on top of the glasses as “garnish.”

Use any or all of these ideas to craft a hit summer birthday!
