Tidy Up is an easy to use iPad app for teaching children that every object has a proper home when cleaning up a room. In addition to the activities for cleaning a room, children will also enjoy the included jigsaw puzzles.
Simple, easy to use interface
Child-friendly learning environment
The design elements used throughout the app are all of good quality. Users will find the colors, music and sounds appealing. The child-friendly voice recordings are clear and easy to understand.
Young children will find this app easy to use as it does not require any reading prior to or during play. Verbal instructions offer gentle guidance if the user is unsure of what to do and the main screen is designed using pictures.
While the app is of good quality overall, it could use a bit more refinement.
This app is intended to entertain as it teaches children how to properly clean up and put away all of the objects in their proper location. In the full version of the app, five rooms are available for children to practice their skills.
In addition to cleaning up the room, children will learn about other objects in the room; such as, do not touch the electrical outlets or stove, the picture is hanging above the television, what the picture contains or the lights are on or off. This subtle educational feature extends the learning experience of the user.
Some terms or storage locations may prompt questions from the user. Where I live in the U.S. we do not use the term wardrobe for a piece of furniture, we refer to it as a dresser, and most often bananas are stored on the counter rather than in the refrigerator.
Children will find the room activities entertaining thanks to the interactive objects and feedback. Jigsaw puzzles are also included in the app. They are easily accessed from the main screen and vary in difficulty. Guide lines and a snap feature are provided making the puzzles easy to use for a wider range of users. Each of the room scenes and puzzles can be replayed.
Tidy Up is free to download with an in-app purchase of $0.99 for additional content. The free version provides enough content to give the user a good idea of what they could expect from the full version.
At the current price of the in-app purchase this app is reasonably priced. Making this a universal app and adding more content would help families get the most value for their money.
This app is intended for young children, children kindergarten age or older may become bored as they are likely to complete the activities quickly.
Tidy Up does not contain social media, ads or external links and the in-app purchase is protected by a simple math problem.
