With a variety of educational activities dispersed seamlessly throughout the story, this is more than just a fun app, it is a truly unique experience with a perfect balance of education and entertainment.
- Amazing animation and illustrations
- 6 diverse interactive activities
- Charming story line
- Historical characters
It is one thing for an app to have great illustrations and animation, but to also weave fun educational activities into the story line as perfectly as this app does is nothing less than excellent. Add to that vibrant colors, the unique story, seamless transitions from page to page, and the diverse games and activities for children to enjoy and you have an application that is truly amazing.
One thing is for sure, there aren’t many apps out there that have the perfect combination of usability, creativity, education, and entertainment, but Leo’s Pad Appisode 1 does, and it is one application parents will not want to miss out on.
Many apps with this high level of animation are made to be watched, but this app is made to be experienced. Throughout the application there are transitions from story to educational activities that make players a part of the application as they learn.
Children are able to interact with the story as they learn and practice their shapes, colors, drawing, letter recognition, and problem-solving skills often without even realizing they are learning. In addition to the more traditional educational skills children can practice, they also gain exposure to the historical figures/characters Leonardo da Vinci and Galileo Galilei in a fun way.
Parent’s will also appreciate the positive messages and social skills the characters exemplify by saying “Please” and “Thank You” as an added bonus. Overall this app provides a wide variety of educational skills that can be expanded upon in later appisodes and creates a unique way to learn as it makes learning more of an active rather than a passive experience.
The story line of this particular appisode is the preparation and celebration of Gally’s birthday and the animation and activities make this app very entertaining. One activity involves creating Gally’s birthday card and it literally brings the child’s artwork into the application which is always fun for children. Kids also get to put together a special gift for Gally and have the opportunity to help navigate Leo through the sky as he travels to Gally’s birthday celebration.
These diverse activities are built into the app so well that they feel more like games and children will certainly enjoy experiencing this “game” and those in additional appisodes over and over again.
There is nothing better than getting a high quality, fun, and educational app for free, and lucky for parents this application is just that. It allows parents to get a taste of what the rest of the series has to offer and will likely convince them that at $1.99 for future appisodes, it is well worth the money.
With all of the great educational and entertainment components that make this app superb, it is easy to use and child friendly to boot. Children are able to move through the app easily as they enjoy the story and the simple transitions into the various fun activities.
There aren’t any advertisements within the app, but there is an area on the home page that shows the other apps in this series for purchase, however I am confident that after parents see what this appisode has to offer, they will be more than willing to purchase the rest of the series as well.
