Overview

Jungle Adventure is a cute application with fun, bright colors and illustrations that will help children learn and practice counting, colors, animal recognition, and problem solving with two fun activities. One activity is a search and find game where children are asked to find a specific number of a particular animal in an adorable jungle setting and the other is a puzzle activity with 10 animal puzzles to complete.

Quality

The illustrations in this app are delightful with vibrant colors and cute animation. The set up is fairly simple but is perfect for young users so they aren’t over stimulated while trying to find particular animals in the jungle. There are also animal sounds that add to the fun when children touch the correct animal in the search and find game.

The jungle puzzles have the same high quality wonderful illustrations for each animal and each animal puzzle is a little different in how the pieces are shaped, making some more challenging than others. All in all this is high quality app that early learners will enjoy.

Education

There are a variety of ways children can learn in Jungle Adventure as they practice counting and recognize colors and animals. The narrator describes the animal to be found by using very descriptive words including the color and number to be found that helps children find what they are looking for. For example they may be looking for one hungry, yellow lion. As they tap on each animal, a number appears and the sound of that animal is heard as well, helping children connect the animal with the sounds they make and for those that don’t make a particular sound like a butterfly, animated music plays.

On the puzzle side, children are able to practice their problem solving skills as they piece the animal pictures back together. With pieces in various shapes and sizes, they can practice moving the pieces around on the screen until the picture is complete.

Another added learning bonus with this app is the language option. There are 4 language options available, English, Spanish, French, and German that provide a great way for children to learn new languages in a fun activity.

Entertainment

As with many early learning apps it can be difficult to incorporate a variety of entertainment while not overwhelming and distracting early learners and this app is one that is much more educational in nature. The set up is simple and while older children might get bored completing the activities more than once, toddlers and preschool children are likely to enjoy it several times over.

Value

For a primarily educational app, this one has a good variety of learning components for early learners as well as great illustrations , but the price is a little more than I would typically pay for this type of application. Adding an additional game in addition to the puzzle and search and find game would definitely increase the value of this app overall.

Child Friendly

Jungle Adventure is a very simple to use, child friendly app that will keep young learners engaged with bright colors and fun animal sounds. The main page of this app allows children to make the choice between the search and find activity and the puzzle activity and while there is a button for parents in the top corner, children aren’t likely to get distracted by it and venture into that area.

The parents section does provide access to social media links along with additional information from the developer. Within each activity there is also a settings button, but there are no in app purchase links or advertisements, so it is very safe for children to use.
