Grandma’s Kitchen is entertaining and educational. It’s a great app for toddlers, preschoolers and even kindergarten students.

Grandma’s Kitchen has a fun set of seven activities targeted at preschool learners. Skills covered include beginning phonemic awareness, sorting, patterning, ABC order, similarities and differences, and beginning number skills. Children from two to six will have a great time playing in a safe, fun and educational environment.

Features include:

  • Seven types of activities
  • Videos from Grandma’s Kitchen showing real kitchen activities
  • Interactive activities such as washing dishes
  • Animated Grandma dancing
  • Adults can choose which games are available

Grandma’s Kitchen is cute and fun! It will keep small children’s interest over time, because the activities change quickly and adults can choose which are active. This flexibility will allow children to keep on having fun in the Kitchen for months or even years. The app is well-thought-out with clear instructions to users. Every aspect is highly intuitive and easy to use. There will be no doubt in your child’s mind about what to do and how to do it with this app.

The educational aspect of Grandma’s Kitchen is superb. It’s easy to tell that this app truly had early childhood professionals and psychologists involved in development and that it was tested with real young children. It is developmentally appropriate and provides enough flexibility to challenge learners or reinforce skills for a range of age groups.

The skills taught in Grandma’s Kitchen are ideal for small children. For many, experiences like these with patterning, matching, following directions, and so forth, are overlooked in the rush to teach ABCs and other school-related skills. Educators know that these foundational skills are vital to later success, and it’s nice to see an app that takes that into consideration. It gives kids a chance to be kids and learn the things they are interested in.

The software’s activities cover telling time to the hour, consonant blends, colors, vocabulary enrichment, compound words, number recognition, adding, counting by tens, pattern recognition up to four part patterns, and observation skills. Videos show actual kitchen tasks that children may not have yet experienced, such as kneading bread dough.

Grandma’s Kitchen is very entertaining. I enjoyed playing with it for quite a while, and I’m far past the preschool years! I just loved the dancing Grannie who entertains after good efforts, and Grandma’s classically sweet voice is very soothing.

All of the activities in Grandma’s Kitchen allow age-appropriate interactions. This will help keep young children coming back for more. There’s a wide array of responses and children will never know what type of activity will be coming up next.

Grandma’s Kitchen is well worth the price tag. It’s difficult to find such an array of quality activities that will grow with your child wrapped up in an app that is fun and easy to use. The ability to control which parts of the game are active means that parents can tailor the system to their child’s exact needs at different stages of development, vastly extending the useful life of the app.

Child Friendliness

Grandma’s Kitchen is very child-friendly. There are no links to social media and no in-app advertisements. The parents’ section contains links to purchase other apps in the series and to communicate with app developers via email, but this section is completely inaccessible to young children who cannot read. Developers use a password requiring adults to enter numerals that match the printed number words on the screen.

Grandma’s Kitchen is entertaining and educational. It’s a great app for toddlers, preschoolers and even kindergarten students.
