Dr. Panda’s Daycare allows kids to care for five little critters in a daycare setting. Kids ages 2 to 6 are the targeted audience, but others will enjoy the app, too.
Tons of interactions
Bright, cheery colors and music portray going to daycare as a place kids want to go, have fun, and to see their friends. All graphics are good quality making the characters so lovable and, the indoor and outdoor scenes inviting.
A cleaner transition from scene to scene is one area the app could use some attention. When the characters go from snack to the music stage there are times when their food comes with them or the hats from the playroom go to the nursery. It gives the app an unfinished feel and clutters the screen too much.
The app is missing one important step in the “going to daycare activity”. It needs to include parents picking their child up from daycare. Kids in the 2 to 6 age range can be very insecure about parents returning.
The interactions range from serious to silly. As your child is the caregiver for the little critters attending the daycare they must greet them when their parents drop them at daycare, feed them, put them down for naps, entertain them and keep an eye on them outdoors. These interactions are great examples of role playing and can teach your child many important lessons. On the silly side, critters can go down the slide, bounce on a bouncy ball, wear silly hats, and play musical instruments and more.
Dr. Panda’s Daycare is all about discovering and interacting. Kids will want to spend hours with this app. I’m not sure of the exact number of interactions in the five scenes; there are too many to count, and who wants to stop playing to count them.
Characters are not demanding or fussy and do not cry. This allows children to play and investigate at their own pace and makes the environment much more enjoyable.
Dr. Panda’s Daycare is a very good quality app with multiple educational and entertainment opportunities at a reasonable price.
Designed for kids ages 2-6 the app is intuitive for kids in that age group. No reading is required, just lots of touching!
