Welcome to Part 2 of Kiddie Boredom Busters! Experiment with the following ideas so you never have to hear the kids whine about how bored they are ever again.

Basketball Fun

Teach the kids to shoot hoops, play PIG or HORSE, or find other fun basketball-related games to play.

Sundae Station

Have fun setting up a sundae station with the kids, and be sure to get their input in regards to toppings and the like. Section the station so there’s an area for candy toppings such as chocolate chips and M&Ms, one for nuts, one for liquid toppings such as caramel and chocolate syrup, etc. You might need to go shopping first, but it’s part of the fun.

Pet Bath

Give the family pet a bath, especially if it’s been a long time since its last one. The family cat or hamster might not need a bath, but the dog probably does! Use rubber grooming tools to bathe the animal, and point out how depressed the pooch looks despite how good the Zoom Groom or other implement feels. It’s sure to make the kids laugh! They will also enjoy helping Fido towel off.

Magic Tricks

Provide the kids with a magic trick kit or learn to perform magic tricks together. Start with card tricks or anything that’s easy…the kids might find they really love magic!

Letter Writing

Hand out pens/pencils and paper so the kids can write letters. Letter writing is almost a lost art in today’s world, so have the kiddies write letters to their grandparents, aunts and uncles, Santa, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy…the activity also gives them a chance to work on their writing skills.

There’s always something fun for your kids to engage in, no matter the time of year! Enjoy!-
