Power Rangers Legends is a game that is very easy on the eyes. It’s not an exaggeration to say that this game actually looks far better than the Power Rangers Samurai and Mega Force games that were released on the DS and the 3DS. This is a very highly polished game that boasts some truly impressive character models that capture the look of the different Rangers very well. As well as this there are many classic Power Rangers villains that are from the various incarnations of the Power Rangers. In addition to sporting some great character models the game has some nice environments also.
Education
There is not really a great deal of educational value, but if the game does work on one thing it is your child’s reflexes. Power Rangers Legends is a game that is all about having quick reaction times. So the game will help your child in that regard. The game can actually teach about budgeting as each battle earns you currency to unlock new characters and weapons and it can help your child decide to save for something rather than just buying the first thing they can afford.
Entertainment
This is where Power Rangers Legends excels. This is one of those games where an intended five minute play session leads to an hour gaming marathon. The idea is that you pick your Power Ranger. Well at first you only have the Green Ranger, Tommy, but more can be unlocked through game play. Each battle sees you needing to use a series of taps and swipes to not only attack your enemy, but also defend as well. Knowing when to attack and when to defend is the key to success and while the first few battles you can win by mindlessly swiping at the screen. The later battles will require you to think before you swipe or tap. There are a ton of enemies for you to face and some fun dialogue that explains the story of the game as well.
Value
Power Rangers Legends is a game that fluctuates between being free and being sold for around a buck. There is a great deal of content here and even with the in app purchases turned off it is still possible to unlock all the extra characters by playing through the game. And as the game is so much fun your child will be unlocking new characters in no time at all.
Child Friendliness
Some parents may be concerned that Power Rangers Legends may be violent, but the fighting here is very comic like and there is no broken bones or blood. It’s just like the kind of fighting that you see on the Power Rangers TV show. The difficulty is very well balanced in that the early levels really easy you in and teach you how to play the game. Then the difficulty gradually increases as you learn the game mechanics. Power Rangers Legends does have in app purchases of coins to speed up things, but with in app purchases switched off these are not an issue at all. Also there are links to Power Rangers toys as well which seem to come and go as the game is updated so you may want to keep an eye out for these.
This may blow your mind, but Power Rangers is actually the longest running live action kids TV show! Power Rangers Legends is a game that celebrates all the incarnations of Power Rangers. It has characters from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series from the 90's and it goes right up to the characters from the latest Power Rangers series Mega Force. If your child likes Power Rangers then this is the game for them!
